The Richmond and Twickenham Times Cup continues to produce breathtaking rugby and the Northampton Saints curtain raiser was no different. Reeds managed to qualify in all age groups, which is an excellent achievement. A special mention goes out to Teddington who provided ‘B' teams across all age groups to increase the numbers in the festival. Although the boys found the going tough, they will have benefited from the experience.
The under 10 group was dominated by Sevenoaks and Reeds who both qualified by been equal on points and tries, as well as drawing their match 5 - 5. Sutton & Epsom and Teddington played out a thrilling contest with Sutton & Epsom edging the contest 10 - 5.
The under 9 group was the closest so far this season, and although Teddington lost out in all matches, their final game saw them almost turn Sutton & Epsom over in a very tense affair, their progress in the competition was excellent. The remained matches were either drawn or decided by one or two tries. The match of the group was the 15 - 15 draw between Reeds and Sutton & Epsom.
The under 8 group saw five teams which included Crawley. However the group was dominated by Reeds and Sutton & Epsom. The group finished equal on points, and was decided by try count back with Reeds scoring 17 tries to Sutton & Epsom's 16. The matches were very close, and on other curtain raisers any team from the age group might of won through to the semi final stage.
The under 7 group was won by Reeds, with the rest of the group been closely matched. The under 7s seem to show great improvement week on week, and really relish the chance to play on the Stoop Memorial Group.
