Saturday afternoon at the Stoop, we face Leeds Tykes in the eleventh round of the Zurich Premiership. We are currently sixth in the table, but only four points behind Northampton in second spot, and only one point behind London Wasps in third position in the table. Positions 2nd to 8th are very tight; with Bath already well on the way to winning the regular season.
Saturday is a hugely important game for Quins, who face three away games against Sale, Gloucester and Newcastle over the Christmas and New Year period.
Having faced Leeds in both the Cup and the League up in Yorkshire over the last three weeks we are well aware of their strengths. They have a strong pack; they contest the ball very ferociously on the floor, and with the arrival of Andre Snyman, in addition to Phil Christophers, David Rees, Dan Scarborough and Diego Albanese they have pace to die for in the backline.
Mark Evans has a few selection headaches of his own, with the return from World Cup winning success of both Will Greenwood and Jason Leonard and with Ace Tiatia back to fitness.
Will Greenwood is likely to start against Leeds with Jason on the bench alongside the newly fit Tiatia. The only other changes to the starting line up will be at fly half where Andy Dunne will replace the injured Paul Burke, and at loose head prop where Mike Worsley will start ahead of Ceri Jones having missed out last weekend due to illness.
Both Will and Jase are really looking forward to getting back to play for NEC Harlequins after the emotional roller coaster that they have been on over the last few days.
Our only other injured player is George Harder, and he is expected to play in one of the games in the Parker Pen Challenge Cup over the next fortnight against Cetransa El Salvador.
Saturday is a key game for NEC Harlequins, and with the weather reports not to clever for Saturday, you can be sure that it will be imperative to dominate the set piece and the tackle area against the high scoring Tykes.
