After England fantastically took the world cup from Australia, the NEC Harlequins Under 19's took on Bath on the Stoop, finally going down 16-8 after a good game of rugby in very wet conditions.
Bath struck first, an early penalty putting them 3-0 up. Soon after, a prolonged period of pressure led to Bath scoring a very well taken try in the corner, converted to lead 10-0.
Quins struck back, with some great play by Cousins and Brown in the midfield and some excellent work from the forwards putting the team into great attacking positions. Unfortunately, the young Quins failed to capitalise, the last pass often failing to the wayside.
Quins however finally made the pressure tell, with prop and Captain Mark Lambert crossing the line after some great pressure and work, Cousins missing the conversion 10-5. A needless infringement a few minutes later, Bath extended their lead to 13-5 at halftime.
The second half saw only 2 penalties, one from either side as both sides created chances, only for outstanding defence to prevent tries from being scored. Final Score 16-8 to Bath.
Given the very wet conditions, this was a very good game of rugby, both sides adapting well to the conditions with very few mistakes, with Bath just sneaking the scoring!
Next week, it's upto Leeds!
