Quins Ladies worked hard to secure their 12-5 win, when they faced Plymouth at home on Sunday.
From their kick-off, Harlequins made a strong chase and Centre, Alex Burbidge, was quick to secure possession for Quins. Harlequins then made the most of their strong mauling game to force Plymouth onto the back foot, deep in their own half. From here, fly-half, Dani Knight was able to run through and open the scoring for Quins.
Plymouth fought back hard, winning back possession and using strong kicking to gain territory. When Plymouth then formed a blind-side overlap, they were able to equalise the score.
Quins switched back on from their restart, regaining control of the ball, and working their way back into Plymouth's twenty-two. Once Burbidge had the ball in hand she charged through the Plymouth defence to take Quins back into the lead. Knight followed up with the conversion.
The second half saw poor ball retention and numerous penalties from both sides, as the heat and dust took their toll. Neither team was to score again, although Plymouth came close until they lost control of the ball over the try line.
It was to be a hard-fought finish, with both teams giving one hundred per cent right up until the final whistle, but it was Plymouth who had to face the long journey home on the back of a defeat.
The Ladies now have a rare weekend off before they face Worthing at home in Round 1 of the RFUW Rugby World National Cup the following week.
