Harlequins are delighted to announce the re-signing of a number of talented academy prospects.
Harlequins and England U20 stars, Will Collier, Joe Trayfoot and Rob Buchanan have re-signed with Harlequins.
19 year old prop Will and hooker Rob, who both starred in this year's U20s 6 Nations, helping England to claim the grand slam victory, have both made senior appearances for the club.
Back rower Joe Trayfoot, another England U20 team mate who was unfortunate to miss out over the last couple of months due to injury, re-signs until at least 2012. He has made 2 senior team appearances for Quins.
England 7s rising stars Ollie Lindsay-Hague and Miles Mantella have re-signed until at least June 2013.
Ollie, who is currently on the 7s circuit with England, has played 6 senior matches for Quins. Miles, who unfortunately has been hit hard with injuries this season has, in the brief appearances we have seen, shown the potential to make an impact on the senior squad in the future.
Harlequins Academy Manager, Tony Diprose, says:
"I am really pleased with the progress all five players have made and I believe they all have the potential to break into the first team set up, following in the footsteps of Joe Marler, George Lowe and Jordan Turner-Hall."
Young guns sign Quins academy contracts
Jack Clifford (RGS Guildford), Kyle Sinckler (Epsom College), George Merrick (Whitgift) and Charlie Walker (Oakham) have signed 2 year full time academy contracts.
Jack and Kyle have been involved in the England U18 team this season and George and Charlie are both part of the England U19 set-up. All are currently in the Harlequins Elite player development group (EPDG); the players will start their contracts in July 2011 after they finish their school exams.
Tony Diprose, says:
"I am really pleased to be bringing these 4 talented schoolboys into our academy next year and looking forward to them making a real positive impact on the squad."
