Congratulations to Mike Brown who has been voted Etihad Player of the Month for February.
Mike Brown, another product of the Quins academy system, made his First XV debut during the 2005/06 season. Brown is a natural talent and is well known for his fire and passion for the game on the pitch. He demonstrates all the good qualities that a strong full back should, commanding the team, demonstrating great defensive tackles and bursting speed to break through gaps in the defence. Only recently turned 24, Brown has the makings and the ability to grow into a world class fullback. Brown was called up to the England Saxons squad earlier this year to play Italy A and Ireland A; he scored a try against Italy A.
Brown has been instrumental to many of the Quins wins this season including the much needed win against Sale Sharks in round 15 of the Aviva Premiership.
After setting up Joe Gray (which unfortunately went into touch), he then made another great break through the defence when he kicked and chased towards the try line. Unfortunately, Sale's defence were quick to react this time and secured control of the ball, but were eventually unable to keep Brown out.
Quins were finally rewarded with their first try after 26 minutes when Joe Gray blasted through the Sale defence and over the try line. Brown was quick to follow his teammate over the line just 3 minutes later when he tested the defence again with a chip and chase into the dead ball area, where he touched down for the second try of the game. Brown was also on form in the last game of the month against London Irish, when he broke through the Irish defence and set up Pete Browne, who won the penalty that Clegg converted.
