April has been an exciting month for Harlequins, reaching the Amlin Challenge Cup final after defeating London Wasps at home in the quarter finals and Munster away in the semi-finals. Unfortunately this form was not consistent throughout the competitions and Premiership results left the side just one place off qualifying for the Heineken Cup next year with a win against Stade Francais at the Amlin Challenge Cup Final the last opportunity to secure a place in Europe's top rugby competition.
Nick Easter has been on great form throughout April. 20 minutes into the Quins v Leicester Premiership clash, Easter blasted past and cut through the Leicester defence, diving for the left hand corner. Unfortunately for Quins, Easter's knee was in touch and the TMO announced 'No Try'. Easter then picked up the captaincy when Robshaw had to leave the pitch for blood after gaining a gash to the knee. With the Quins side dropped to just 12 men in the second half, Easter kept the defence strong and Quins managed to keep our bonus points.
Nick Evans 100% kicking rate at the Amlin Challenge Cup quarter final meant that Quins secured a much needed place in the semi final with 2 conversions, 5 penalties and a well-timed drop goal from the Kiwi fly half. Danny Care was also instrumental in this win, opening the scoring after he slipped past an unguarded ruck and shot between the posts. Just 3 minutes later, Care was back in the action again with a great run through the Wasps defence. Combining with Jordan Turner-Hall, the ball found its way to Maurie Fa'asavalu who crashed through outstretched Wasps hands to score Quins' second try.
Five tries and a cheeky drop goal from Danny Care saw Quins triumph against Leeds in round 21 of the Aviva Premiership. Accurate throwing from Joe Gray saw Quins win the majority of the line outs and saw these opportunities utilised with a 3-38 win to the mighty Quins!
