Only two players remain from the 2004 Parker Pen win, but Mark Lambert believes the current crop of Quins players can 'achieve something great', starting this Friday in the Amlin Challenge Cup quarter final against rivals London Wasps.
European nights hold a special place in Harlequins' illustrious history, and prop Mark Lambert is keen to add another historic night to that list on Friday night.
Lambert: "There are not many sides involved in European Quarter Finals this weekend, and we are in a great position to be playing at home. Not only that, but Friday's opponents are also our oldest rivals, London Wasps. A win will take us into the Semi-Finals of a tournament that is packed full of European rugby giants and a step closer to a big piece of silverware."
Lambert believes that the 2010/11 squad can emulate the great Harlequins teams of the past, led by inspirational skipper, Chris Robshaw.
Lambert: "Many of the boys that will be involved on Friday were either aspiring young academy lads or even bright-eyed school boys back in 2004, but there are certainly individuals who are well on their way to reaching Quins folklore in the current crop. Names such as Care, Robshaw, Brown, Turner- Hall and Lowe are already very experienced in the quartered shirt but it could be argued that they all have their best years ahead of them."
And those good times could start on Friday.
Lambert: "Thoughts of a return to the final seven years on will be at the back of our mind, but if we do get there, we have the players capable of winning it."
