January has been an incredibly successful and exciting month for Harlequins, winning every game in all 3 competitions, reaching the quarter finals of the European Challenge Cup and playing their first ever competitive game on international soil over in Abu Dhabi. Nick Evans put in an outstanding performance scoring a try which he converted along with 3 others and 2 penalties against Bayonne in their 2nd encounter with the French side this season, and securing Quins a place in the quarter finals. Tom Williams also put in a great performance during this game, moving seamlessly to full-back in Brown's late absence. Williams also performed well in Abu Dhabi when quick thinking saw Tom kicking the ball up field to land in the hands of the young Sam Smith to score his 2nd try of the game.
January also saw a number of the 1st XV team getting called up to the England Saxons squad. George Robson's domination of the line out and overall performance saw his call up along with Mike Brown, who has been consistent all season, and scored a great try against Wasps in round 13 of the Aviva Premiership. Chris Robshaw also saw his call up as England Saxons Captain. Having taken over the Quins Captaincy at the beginning of the season, Robshaw has proven himself to be a captain who leads by example and is well respected by both players and coaches.
