During half-time of Harlequins 60-14 victory over Worcester Warriors on Wednesday 1st April, the Twickenham Stoop crowd witnessed the Etihad Airways Rugball Challenge - the supporters' showdown rugby game, where fans from each team go head to head.
The battle is all about enjoyment, honour, bragging rights, and who has the most talented rugby fans! This seasons long battle will culminate in a finale at the end of the season, where a pair of fans will be flown away as the Ultimate Rugball champions for a holiday to Abu Dhabi with Etihad Airways.
As per last matchday, the Etihad Airways Rugball Challenge will be taking place during half time of each home game at Harlequins this season. The name of the game is simple: try to get as many balls in the rugball as quickly as possible! The boys have to kick at least three of the balls from the 10m line, they can choose to throw or kick the other two. The girls get to throw the balls 5m from the rugball unless there are any budding Nick Evans' who want to kick it. It sounds easy, but you'll be surprised…
Each match, two Quins supporters will be taking on two opposing supporters, all chosen randomly by Harlequins' resident MC, Mad Max, on the day, and the winners will be able to celebrate victory with the sweet taste of champagne. The seasons long war means the best Quins team and Away team will come back on Abu Dhabi Day for a play-off to win a holiday with Etihad to Abu Dhabi.
On Wednesday 1st April, the Quins fans fought off the Worcester fans in a close game of Rugball, beating them by a score of 3 points to 1. Congratulations to Olga and Rodney Bonnard!
