Following on from their triumph at the Guinness Premiership Awards, Player of the Season, Chris Robshaw, and Land Rover Discovery of the Season, Jordan Turner-Hall, swept the board at the Harlequins End of Season Awards Dinner and Dance 2009.
Robshaw proved to be the man of the hour, taking home three of the four main awards on offer. The all-action flanker, who played 31 games this season, won the Supporters' Player of the Season, LV= Players' Player of the Season and the Etihad Airways Player of the Season, at the awards evening held on Tuesday 12th May at the Grosvenor House Hotel.
Turner-Hall was awarded the Nick Duncombe Trophy for the Young Player of the Season, after his tremendous performances this season, both on the domestic front and in Europe.
The two England prospects have been integral to Harlequins' most successful Premiership season to date, which includes today's final, and the staggering Heineken Cup campaign, including the back-to-back victories over Stade Francais. They have since been duly rewarded, both receiving their first call up into Martin Johnson's England squad to play the Summer tour of Argentina.
Quins' Director of Rugby, Dean Richards, believes that both players will shine in the England team
"They would not look out of place in that company, they're stars in the making and would slot in very well. Chris is a far better footballer than some that have been chosen for the national side. His work-rate is incredible and he's turning into a fantastic No 6.''
Richards has been equally impressed by the progress and maturity of Turner-Hall.
"He's become a more rounded person and a better player as a result,'' Richards said. "He's got quick feet, power and pace, too. His ball-handling has improved immensely. And there's still scope for much more improvement.''
Other winners on the night included Tani Fuga, who's try against Newcastle on the last league game of the season was voted the Greene King Try of the Season on the night of the awards, and Nathan Humphreys, the club's Sports Turf Development Manager (or "the guy who cuts the grass", as he put it!), was awarded the Norton Rose LLP Award for Outstanding Contribution to the club, for all his tireless work throughout the season.
