It seems home games are like buses in January for the Quins team, as after a long wait for a return to the Stoop last weekend, we can now enjoy our second home game in as many weeks, against Premiership rivals Northampton Saints.
The Saints have been in good form recently, securing an impressive away win against Montpellier in the Challenge Cup, as well as extending their unbeaten home record beating teams including Quins in the last few weeks. Of course, securing a home quarter final in the Heineken Cup suggests that we too are fearsome opponents, so Saturday should be a great game between two ambitious sides.
Saturday's fixture also signals the end of an almost continual period of rugby over the last three months for the squad. With next week being a rest week for those not involved with international sides, many players will be heading away for short breaks to rest both their bodies and minds.
Make no mistake about it though, whilst the players will be excited by the prospect of their time off, we are all well aware of the huge importance of securing a result on Saturday. As a side that prides itself on its high energy levels and work rate, it hurt us to be outdone on those fronts at Franklins Gardens in December, so expect the starting XV to be flying come kick off time. We know that our time off will only truly be enjoyed if we can close out a period that has been so good for us with another important victory. So as ever make sure that the crowd plays its part in creating the required atmosphere to bring home the points for our team, and get us climbing back up the Premiership table.
