Quins A team sailed through to the Semi-Finals of the Guinness A league last night, with a 37-3 win over Bristol United at Imber Court.
This was an emphatic and efficient performance. With first half tries from Tom Sargeant, Waisea Luveniyali and Sam Smith, and another three in the second half from Ollie Kohn, De Wet Barry and Tosh Masson, Quins cut through the Bristol defence time and time again.
This became a rather one-sided match, with Quins demonstrating intention to attack at every opportunity, moving the ball through the hands with skill and invention. In contrast, Bristol never threatened to cross the Quins' line and lacked penetration in midfield and out-wide. Their only three points came from an Adrian Jarvis penalty kick after eight minutes, and thereafter they never looked like scoring.
For Quins, there were good performances from Barry, Seb Stegmann and Tom Guest among others. The two late tries in two minutes, from Barry and Masson, emphasised the gap between the two teams.
The semi-final will be the subject of a draw by Premier Rugby and played on 30th March 2009.
