During the October half term, Harlequins community team saw over 60 children enjoy coaching at our Big Game rugby camp.
The day consisted of coaching from 4 high quality coaches who developed the children's skills with a range of drills and games. The children on the Wednesday camp had the chance to meet Ross Chisholm, Will Collier, Dan Frazier and Luke Wallace who are all playing in the A team and bright prospects for the future. The children enjoyed the chance to ask questions and then play games with the young players. Each child also receives 2 tickets to the Big Game 2 which will provide the opportunity for a day at Twickenham and hopefully a Quins win!!
"These 2 days were great for everyone involved. It was good to see all the children leaving with a smile on their face and some parents/coaches leaving with more drills and games to use in their sessions with local teams. We will definitely be looking to run more days like this in the New Year." Gerald Kelly - Community team.
"My son James attended the coaching session at The Stoop yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed the day. He spent ages telling me all about how much fun he had and the skills he had learned. I think the highlight of his day was meeting the players; from all accounts he is now best friends with one of the tighthead props and is hoping to get in a scrum with him in a few years' time! From what I can gather a high level of discipline was expected from the coaches, with several of the children in James' age group being sin-binned for a few minutes (including James himself) following any unruly behavior. I feel that this is such a vital part of learning to play rugby, or indeed any sport, so full credit to the coaches for remaining firm and in control." Amanda Wilkes - Parent
During week commencing 22nd April Harlequins will launch an innovative, new Membership Scheme which will replace the existing Season Ticket Holder Programme. Further details of the scheme will be announced in due course.
