Last week saw the return of the Norton Rose City Scrum cup to the Honourable Artillery Company in the heart of the city.
The tournament, in association with Harlequins and Official Sponsor, Norton Rose, saw 15 city firm teams battling it out in the main tournament for the City Scrum Cup and Plate, with five teams also competing in the 40+ tournament for the City Scrum Vase. Each team was under the watchful eye of a Quins player, who acted as Head Coach for the day.
Danny Care's team JP Morgan retained the Cup, after seeing off Morgan Stanley in the final with a 'Golden Try' after the two teams were tied at the full time whistle. Nick Evans' HSBC team won the Plate, with Neil McMillan over-seeing his Thomson Reuters 40+ team to victory in the Vase tournament.
The large crowd gathered were also privileged enough to witness an exhibition match between an invitational England Touch team, and "Quins Reunited" - a team made up of current Quins players Seb Stegmann, Andy Gomarsall and Waisea Luveniyali, as well as more "mature" ex-Quins Paul Volley, Will Carling and Simon Miall. Despite the wealth of talent on show in the Reunited team, the England Touch team were victorious in a close and very entertaining match.
Thank you to everyone who made the day such a success, and here's to next year!
