As some of you may have heard, during that week the team made the decision to do a 'tough challenge' each day. The challenges ranged from being a part of a circus for the day, to an army assault course, along with abseiling down the Twickenham Stadium.
Their most difficult and toughest challenge of the lot though came on the Friday when the whole of the team came face to face with our very own Harlequins!!!
With the superb coaching of the Harlequins players and staff, the team were put through a warm up and then on to an intense fitness session. After the team's fitness, handling skills and speed were tested, they moved on to tackling. Of course, tackling is always difficult skill to master, but even tougher when you have a professional rugby player standing in your way!
The team were not given much time to recover in between the different activities and after the tackling came a gladiator style gauntlet, where the team had to drive their way through 6 strong rugby players to score a try. After that came kicking, line outs and scrums, where the breakfast team were not only all thrown up in the lineout, but had to scrummage down against the Mighty Quins!
After looking thoroughly exhausted the big match kicked off, Quins V Radio 1 Breakfast Team. After battling it out, it was a well deserved draw with Matt Finchan scoring for the Breakfast team.
An extremely tired, battered and bruised Radio 1 team dragged themselves off the Stoop pitch and into the changing rooms...a tough challenge had been had by all!
Everyone had great fun, and the day at The Stoop helped the Radio 1 Breakfast team raise over £1, 370, 000 for Comic Relief!
