Congratulations to Harlequins Academy player George Lowe, who has been called up to the England U20's match-day 22 for their 6 Nations game against Ireland U20 on Friday.
The talented centre is in his first year at Harlequins, and has been a prolific try-scorer on loan with Esher in National Division One, scoring four tries in his last league appearance against Manchester on January 31. He joins Academy teammates Tom Sargeant, Seb Stegmann and Chris York in the match 22.
He is one of six changes to the England group for the game at Dubarry Park in Athlone (6.15pm). Also called up are hooker Arthur Ellis (London Wasps), lock Dan Williams (Gloucester), and there are four changes in the backs with Lowe joined by centre Tom Casson (Saracens), fly-half Rory Clegg (Newcastle) and wing James Short (Saracens).
England are defending the Six Nations title and have wins against Italy (17-0) and Wales (28-15) already under their belts, but they meet an unbeaten Ireland team that has seen off France (9-6) and Italy (29-26) in the opening rounds.
Academy Manager, Tony Diprose said: "Obviously we are delighted for George and see it as just reward for his performances this season both at Esher, where he has been scoring a heap of tries (six in his last two league games) and Quins. It is especially significant for George as he missed out at both England U16 and England U18 level, and we feel he deserves recognition at a national level of his abilities. We look forward to seeing how he performs against a tough Irish U20 side on Friday. It will also be a positive that he has Quins team mates Seb Stegmann, Chris York and Tom Sargeant alongside him in the match 22."
