Only one loss for the loan club teams and Harlequins players this weekend, but Esher and Ealing maintain their perfect start to the season.
National League 1
Esher 56
Newbury Blues 5
Esher followed on their perfect start to the season with another damaging win against Newbury Blues.
The first half showed no real direction from both teams and only two tries from Esher in the first half, they looked to be struggling.
They must have had a stern talking to in the half time and Esher came out and played the better rugby. They crashed over the line within 3 minutes of the start of the second half and it took a long time for the opposition to make a darting run down the left after a spate of penalties. Esher were quick to score again, and Harlequins' own Chris York also got himself on the score sheet. David Slemen then got three tries to push them way ahead of Newbury. 56-5 at the final whistle.
National League 2
Barking 43
Rosslyn Park 19
Rosslyn Park fell to the hands of Barking to concede their first loss last weekend. The league leaders put in an outstanding performance to take them clear in the table. Park started the stronger kicking a penalty and a drop goal in pretty quick succession.
Barking's first try came from a sloppy Park clearance and set up Ngan's first try of the day. The Barking pack then took control and their prop was soon over the line for another try. Park kept it close by converting their third penalty at the end of the half.
Park's second half fell apart by conceding too many penalties ultimately leading to two sin bins within minutes of each other. The flood gates open and Barking started running in tries for fun.
Park never gave up and ended up with a consolation try at the end but this wasn't enough to keep Barking off the top of the table, finishing 43-19.
Dings Crusaders 22
Ealing 29
The boot of Ealing's Ben Ward kept them in the game and gave Ealing their first win away at the Crusaders.
Ward scored four penalties, two conversions and a drop goal to help win the match for Ealing. Ealing scored within eight minutes from a break into weakened defence but Dings hit back when their full-back was driven over the line by his forward pack.
The away team started to dominate the rest of the half and a try by Ealing's number eight and two penalties gave them a 20-7 half time buffer.
Dings came back in the second half and the skipper was rewarded with a try and they also converted, bringing them within a try's reach. Ding's ill discipline then gave Ealing the opportunity to get two more penalties and a drop goal to seal the win.
22-29 at the final whistle.
