Congratulations to both Danny Care and George Lowe who have been voted the Etihad Airways Players of the Month for September.
Both players have begun the season in top form as they both look to bolster Quins' backline to ensure top performances throughout their Guinness Premiership title quest.
Danny Care, the England Scrum Half has looked sharp throughout the early stages of the season and is quickly re-establishing his strong half back partnership with kiwi Nick Evans. Despite having a minor hand injury in the middle part of the month, Care has been dangerous around the fringe and was very influential in the comeback against Newcastle Falcons at Kingston Park. His darting runs from the breakdown have helped to put Quins on the front foot in games where they have been up against it.
Surrey based youngster George Lowe has been catapulted into the first XV squad this month and has put in some excellent performances on the wing. The England Under 20 made a number of great breaks at The Stoop against last year's champions Leicester, and looked lively against Saracens. He is sure to keep the more senior members of the back line on their toes as the season goes on.
Congratulations also goes out to James Lanaway who voted for this month's Etihad Airways Player of the Month. As well as receiving a limited edition replica Harlequins jersey, James also got the opportunity to ask Danny Care:
Q: "Do you believe that there is too much kicking in the modern game of rugby? If so, what would you do to reduce the volume of kicking?
DC: "Yes I do think there is a lot of kicking in the modern game of rugby. I think the fans want to see positive rugby and free-flowing moves which culminate in tries. Obviously there are less tries being scored at the moment and I feel this is a result in the increase in the amount of kicking.
However, a good kicking game is crucial in any team. I can see that when this tactic is overused the game can be seen as one-dimensional. Quins pride themselves on a certain style of rugby, the "Quins style" which involves kicking, but kicking when necessary."
