The Middlesex National Club Sevens Finals take place at the Stoop Memorial Ground this Sunday (8th May), with many of the well known names in grass roots rugby participating for a chance to go through to the International Sevens at Twickenham in August.
Last year's winners, Loughborough University, will be battling to defend their title against the likes of Oxford University, London Scottish, Blackheath and London Welsh, along with previous winners the Princess of Wales Regiment, who compete this year straight from Iraq where they became the most decorated regiment since the Second World War.
2005 is the sixth triumphant year for the grass roots sevens competition, since its split from the senior event in 2000, and it is a year of firsts and lasts. For the first time, women will compete in the sevens code, with an exhibition match between the RFUW President's VII and an England International VII, as a prelude to women's rugby being included in the full competition next year.
It is also the last time the Rugby World Cup will be displayed, with opportunities for people to be photographed with the most famous trophy in rugby.
