NEC Harlequins are delighted to announce that captain Andre Vos has signed a new one year contract that will keep him at the Club throughout the 2005/06 season, with the option to stay at the Stoop for a further 12 months after that.
Vos joined the Club in November 2002 and has been an inspirational leader both on and off the pitch. He has to date played in 58 Premiership games for Quins, missing just two league matches over the last two seasons. Furthermore, Vos was a key figure in helping the Club to win the Parker Pen Challenge Cup over the 2004/05 season.
"After the disappointment of last weekend, it is with renewed optimism and enthusiasm that I look forward to the new season and the challenge that awaits us," said Vos. "The reason for this optimism is the confidence that I have that Quins will not stagnate but move forward together to achieve our goals for the next year and, once again, rightfully take up our place amongst the countries elite. Thank you to everyone who has been so massively supportive over the past week - it is much appreciated."
In addition to Vos, Quins have retained the services of a number of their leading players, including England internationals Will Greenwood and Tony Diprose.
"I am delighted to be staying with NEC Harlequins for next season," said Greenwood. "Our goal is to make sure we return to the Premiership at the first attempt and I am looking forward to being part of this challenge. There is a real air of determination within the squad to make sure we achieve this target."
As well as the retention of such well known players as Vos, Greenwood and Diprose, the vast majority of the current Quins squad will be at the Club next season. The full retained list of players will be announced over the next few days.
In addition to those players who have been retained or signed new contracts, NEC Harlequins will be announcing several new signings over the next couple of weeks.
