It was another disappointing result (0-19) for the Harlequin Ladies at the hands of London Welsh in Saturday's (12th March) friendly, writes Jo Everett.
Quins received the kick-off but were unable to gain much territory before possession was turned over. In what turned out to be a scrappy first half, both teams struggled with their ball retention thanks to countless handling errors and penalties.
It was London Welsh that were able to make good use of the possession they had and broke through a disorganised Quins defence to score the opening try. The home side attempted to fight back but London Welsh challenged hard at the breakdowns, making it difficult for them to get clean ball.
The Ladies also tried to use their kicking game to gain a better field position, but Welsh's full back guarded well and ran the ball straight back at the home team. Welsh continued to make the most of Quins errors to extend their lead to19-points by half-time.
The second half saw a more determined attack and a better organised defence from Quins, but Welsh defended well, keeping the Ladies well away from the line and ensuring a clean sheet for themselves.
Two crucial league fixtures remain this season and Quins will need to find their form quickly if they are to keep their place in Division 1 South-East.
