NEC Harlequins are delighted to announce the signing of Samoan international scrum half Steven So'oialo on a two-year contract. The news of the clubs latest recruit comes on the day Quins have reached 4,750 Season Ticket sales; just 250 short of their increased cap of 5,000 for the 2004/05 season.
27 year-old So'oialo has won 32 caps for Samoa, after making his international debut in May 1998. He represented his country at the 1999 and 2003 World Cups, and So'oialo is currently with the Pacific Islanders squad preparing for this Saturday's (10th July) test match against New Zealand. He will join Quins at the end of the month, after playing for Orrell last season.
"Steven brings with him a wealth of experience to a key position within the team," said NEC Harlequins Chief Executive Mark Evans. "He was outstanding at last years World Cup, particularly in the game against England, and I'm confident he will become a valuable member of the Quins squad as we seek to improve further on last seasons performance."
Having announced three weeks ago that they had elected to cap their Season Ticket sales at 5,000 (an increase on the original target by 500), Quins are now on course for selling out of Season Tickets by the end of July.
"We would advise anyone who is still considering purchasing a Season Ticket to do so soon to avoid disappointment," suggested Evans. "The response to this years campaign has been phenomenal and for the fourth year in a row we've seen a significant increase in Season Ticket sales, which is fantastic news for the club."
Over the last three weeks, Quins have sold out of Tryline and Touchline Season Ticket categories, with Gold, Premier, Club and Dugout categories all going within the first two months of going on sale. However, supporters can still purchase seats in the new covered North stand, in addition to Jester seats in the South stand with the remaining seats being sold on a first come, first served basis.
Each Season Ticket holder will reserve their seat for all of Quins 11 home games in the Zurich Premiership and the three pool fixtures at the Stoop in the Heineken Cup next season against Castres, the Ospreys and Munster.
