For the first time in seven weeks, NEC Harlequins return to action in the Zurich Premiership at the Stoop tomorrow (27th March) when they face Leicester Tigers for the second time in eight days.
Last Friday night (19th March) at Welford Road saw the home side race into a 17-point lead in the opening quarter, only to see Quins stage a tremendous fight back to make the score 23-21 in Leicester's favour with less than five minutes to go. However, a second try from Jaco van der Westhuyzen then put the result beyond doubt (30-21) but had Josh Taumalolo converted a penalty with 80 minutes showing on the clock, then Quins would have picked up a bonus point their performance deserved.
Quins welcome back captain Andre Vos and winger Ugo Monye to the team this weekend. Vos missed the game last Friday as he was back in South Africa for his sisters wedding and he returns to the back row in place of Pat Sanderson, who is with the England Sevens squad in Hong Kong. Monye is back from England Under 21 duty and replaces Matt Moore on the right wing.
The team shows two other changes from the starting XV that began last Friday night. Jason Leonard comes in for Jon Dawson at tight head prop, while Ace Tiatia replaces Luke Sherriff in the back row. Simon Miall and Laurent Gomez come on to the replacements bench.
Paul Burke and George Harder once again miss out due to their respective shoulder injuries. In addition to this, Kai Hortsmann and Tom Williams are with Sanderson in the England Sevens squad, while Chris Bell, Andy Reay and Henry Barratt are all part of the England Under 21 team playing their French counterparts in Brive this evening (26th March). Will Greenwood is once again vice captain of the England team, who finish the RBS Six Nations Championship away to France tomorrow night.
The Tigers make two changes to their team, with Will Johnson replacing Martin Corry in the back row. Corry has been named as a replacement for the England team playing in Paris. With Ollie Smith out with a groin injury, John Holtby replaces him on the right wing.
The corresponding fixture last season (19th April 2003) saw Quins record their first league win over the Tigers since April 1997. A try from Ben Gollings and 12 points from the boot of Burke helped to give Quins a victory by 17-9.
Tomorrow's game at the Stoop is completely sold out and the club is advising those supporters without tickets not to turn up at the ground on the day as there will be no tickets available.
