Congratulations to Will Greenwood, who has been selected for the England team to play Ireland in the Six Nations Championships at Twickenham on Saturday (6th March), kick-off 4.00pm. Apart from continuing as vice captain, the Quins centre will also win his 50th cap this weekend.
However, Jason Leonard is not part of the 22-man squad, with his place on the bench going to Bath's Matt Stevens.
"It's a tough call. We picked on merit and I felt it was right Jason was involved in the first two games. But for this game we've brought in young Matt Stevens for his first full international if he gets on," said England head coach Sir Clive Woodward.
"I just want to see Matt on the bench and playing at home will be a lot easier for him. I want to see him brought on tactically. I've spoken to Jason at length about this. He's obviously disappointed but accepts fully the ups and downs of being selected."
The starting XV shows three changes from the team that started in the 35-13 victory over Scotland (21st February). Matt Dawson replaces Andy Gomarsall at scrum half, with Steve Borthwick coming in for his Bath team-mate Danny Grewcock in the second row. Grewcock is out with an achilles injury.
Back to full fitness, Joe Worlsey returns to the back row in place of Chris Jones, who is amongst the replacements. Also on the bench are Leicester Tigers Neil Back and Gloucester's James Simpson-Daniel.
