NEC Harlequins managed to secure a bonus point, but must be disappointed to go down by a single point after leading for much of the game.
In rainy conditions Quins got off to a better start, capitalising on a defensive error which allowed Will Greenwood to touchdown Andy Dunne's kick ahead. Dunne added the extras to make it 7 - 0. It was not long before the Cherry and Whites came back into the game with James Simpson-Daniel touching down.
At the interval Quins led 7 -5, and came out the stronger after the break. Ceri Jones continued his try scoring purple patch and after Dunne added the conversion Quins edged further ahead.
Henry Paul added a penalty to make the score 14 - 8 to Quins. Then on the hour, Tony Spreadbury sent off Jim Evans and Chris Forety for fighting. Gloucester faired better from the exchange and Paul kicked the resulting penalty, 14 - 11 to Quins. Gloucester then took the lead for the first time when local favourite Trevor Woodman came of the bench to score. With Paul adding the extras Gloucester edged ahead 14 -18.
Dunne added a penalty to close the gap and ensure the bonus point but Mark Evans summed up the day, commenting, "at the end of the day there is no column in the league table for 'deserved to win'."
