This Saturday NEC Harlequins return to the Stoop, having been on something of a travel road show over the last few weeks after visiting Valladolid (Spain), Sale, Gloucester, Newcastle and Montauban.
Something like 8 of the last 11 games have been away from the Stoop, and now they have three home games in the space of ten days, with Montauban on Saturday, Brive/Castres next weekend and the Natal Sharks on Tuesday 27 January.
NEC Harlequins go into the Second Leg of their Second Round Parker Pen Challenge Cup game against Montauban with a healthy 35 points advantage following their very professional performance last Saturday at the Stade de Sapiac.
With the prospect of a Quarter Final 1st leg against either Brive of Castres next weekend at The Stoop, Head Coach Mark Evans has been able to make a number of changes to the starting XV. In the forwards Mike Worsley, James Hayter, Jon Dawson, Bill Davison, Jim Evans, Tony Diprose and Luke Sherriff all come into the team with Roy Winters moving from second row to the back row. While in the back line there are fewer changes with Scott Bemand, Chris Bell and Matt Moore all starting. As in the first round of the competition the team will be led by Luke Sherriff.
There were no injury concerns from the away leg; all of these changes have been made to ensure that everyone within the squad has had some recent game time as we prepare for what is bound to be a very difficult Quarter Final tie.
Saturday's game against Montauban is not a foregone conclusion, but with a 35 point advantage everyone at NEC Harlequins is rightly expecting the team to progress through to the Quarter Finals.
