NEC Harlequins got back to winning ways at Newcastle Falcons edging the home side 29-25. Ceri Jones' try late on in the game sealed the win and a bonus point after Newcastle's Dave Walder dropped a goal to apparently steel the win for his side. The travelling Quins fans must of feared a reverse after the team let a 22 -10 lead slip.
The Quins were quickly out of the blocks and led by 12 - 3 after 20 minutes thanks to some sharp attacking from the backline. England Seven's star Ugo Monye and Gavin Duffy both scored tries in the opening quarter. Outside half Andy Dunne was also on hand to add one conversion. At the interval the home side were still in the game after Jamie Noon scored Newcastle's first try.
Leading 15 -10 at half time, NEC Harlequins were first to score when Jim Evans scored after Monye's break had opened up the Falcon's defence. At this point the Falcons came back into the game with two tries and with Walder's drop goal thought they had won the game. However it was Ceri Jones' try scoring exploits that closed the game out for NEC Harlequins.
During week commencing 22nd April Harlequins will launch an innovative, new Membership Scheme which will replace the existing Season Ticket Holder Programme. Further details of the scheme will be announced in due course.
