NEC Harlequins are delighted to announce the signing of Australian scrum half Matt Henjak on a short-term contract. The 22 year-old will join Quins after completing his duties with Canberra in the Tooheys Cup in Australia and will be at the club until 19th December 2004.
Henjak won two caps for Australia earlier in the year, making his debut in the 51-15 victory over England on 26th June. He was also part of the ACT Brumbies squad that won the Super 12's this year, starting ahead of George Gregan in the game against the Highlanders.
After only winning one Super 12 cap in 2003, Henjak was selected for the Australia A tour of Japan and earlier in his career he played for Australian Schoolboys and Australia Under 21's.
"Matt is an exciting young talent and I am delighted to have secured his services," said NEC Harlequins Chief Executive Mark Evans. "We have crucial matches in both the Zurich Premiership and Heineken Cup during the time he is with us, and I'm sure he will have a significant role to play in the team during this period."
During week commencing 22nd April Harlequins will launch an innovative, new Membership Scheme which will replace the existing Season Ticket Holder Programme. Further details of the scheme will be announced in due course.
