Last night's Greene King Supporter Pub Night was a tremendous success, much enjoyed by all who attended. Vince and his staff at the Royal Oak were great hosts and we are very grateful to them.
Several groups of 'regular supporter night goers' came along, as well as some new Quins faces and locals. Ugo Monye, Simon Keogh, Ben Willis, Ace Tiatia and George Harder were all in attendance.
The 'Quins & General Sports Knowledge' quiz proved quite difficult and rumour has it that a certain Mr Monye (and other supporters) actually phoned Quins Team Manager Mike Scott.
The quiz was won by 'Gordon Bennett,' ably assisted by Ace Tiatia and George Harder!! Joint second place went to 'Whatever' and 'The Hamptons' - again stalwarts of the Quins quizzes.
All teams benefited from the knowledge of their players, especially Simon, Ben and Ugo - however, there will be a points deduction at future quizzes for mobile phone usage!
The Sweepstake Question was: 'What month and year did Jason Leonard make his debut for Quins? Answer: 1st September 1990 Vs Belgium. There was a three way tie.
Questions to the players varied from the sublime to the, well, ridiculous! The more sensible asked Ugo about his feelings on Sevens and Club rugby, and Ace and George about the differences between Zurich Premiership and Super 12's rugby. Ben was asked for his girlfriend's name (the reply was Barbara!) and Simon asked if all his family would be watching the forthcoming match in Galway.
The night was another tremendous success and we are all looking forward to the next night, which will probably be in March / April and again in the Teddington / Twickenham / Richmond area. This will be advertised here on the website, in matchday programmes and through the weekly ezine.
Thank you to Greene King, the pub and all supporters who made the effort to come along. Special thanks also to Terry and Melvin who brought their electricians' skills to the pub when asked to mend the microphone!
Watch this space - photos of the event will be posted on the site later!
