NEC Harlequins are delighted to announce the signing of Maama Molitika, who joins the club on a three year contract. The 28 year-old blindside flanker joins Quins from the Celtic Warriors.
Molitika has won four caps for Tonga, making his international debut against Fiji in June 1997. He was part of the Bridgend squad that won the Welsh Premiership for the first time in the clubs history in 2002/03 and played against Quins when the two sides met in the group stages of the Heineken Cup in 2001/02.
Last season, Molitika was a regular member of the Celtic Warriors side that finished fourth in the Celtic League and played in all of the Welsh sides Heineken Cup fixtures.
"We were looking to supplement our back row resources with a particular type of player," said NEC Harlequins Chief Executive Mark Evans. "Someone who would bring a degree of physical and ball carrying ability. Having watched Maama several times over the last 12 months, I am very confident that he will add real value to the squad in these areas."
At this time, NEC Harlequins expect to make two further significant signings before the start of the season.
