NEC Harlequins Harley Bear was the winner of the 'Best Club Mascot' category at the Premier Rugby Marketing Awards dinner held at the Rose Room, Twickenham Stadium on Friday night (28th May). The Quins mascot was there in person to collect his certificate from Simon Hoskins of Premier Rugby and beat Digger (London Irish), Sharky (Sale Sharks) and Bernie (Northampton) to the award.
Harley was extremely busy over the duration of the season educating all Mighty Quins supporters with his articles in the clubs matchday programme. Apart from giving an idea of the roles and responsibilities of each of the players, he also gave a guide to specific tournaments including the World Cup, Parker Pen Challenge Cup and the Zurich Wildcard play-offs.
Harley, along with Charley Bear, then made a return to Twickenham the following day (Saturday 29th May) and took part in the mascot sevens during the half-time interval of the Zurich Premiership Final between London Wasps and Bath.
In addition to winning the 'Best Club Mascot' title, Quins were also victorious in the 'Best Matchday Experience' category. It was the second time in three years that the club has won this award.
Harley's Angels were runners-up in the 'Best Promotional Initiative' category.
