Last weekend, a group of 15 Quins supporters and staff travelled to the Brecon Beacons for what they thought would be a lovely day walking in the sunshine. Unfortunately for them, Saturday was the worst day weather-wise for the weekend and sunscreen was replaced by waterproofs and hot tea.
Despite the appalling weather conditions for June (winds of 35 knots and torrential rain) the group walked about 15 miles and covered three peaks - Penyfan, Fanybig and Fanfar - before an evening BBQ and a few well deserved drinks!
Special thanks to Anne McCarthy, Quins / BPA organiser, and Gary Hutchison and Phil Mikeljewski who led the two groups.
The group of walkers were: Anne McCarthy, Gary Hutchison, Phil Mikeljewski, Emma and Andy Stewart, Nick Hyde, Louise Hopkins, Vena Arnold, Lesley Howells, Ben Laundon, Iain Gowans, Dave Farelly, John Piper and Nick McRae.
A full report of the weekend will be posted once the group has thawed out and recovered!
There is still time for you to sponsor the group of walkers. The aim is to raise £9,000 and if you would like to make a donation you can do so by clicking
here.
Alternatively, you can send in a cheque (made payable to the British Paralympic Association) to Anne McCarthy in the Quins office.
