NEC Harlequins failed to make the most of their chances and finally went down 30-6 to champions Leicester Tigers courtesy of two late tries that put a distorted view to the final scoreline. Quins can have few complaints as they lacked any sort of cutting edge to upset the champions and rarely looked like scoring a try.
Tim Stimpson got the home side off to a perfect start with an en early penalty but David Slemen, a late replacement for Irish international fly half Paul Burke, levelled shortly afterwards.
Stimpson kicked the Tigers ahead again after 13 minutes, before a trademark Neil Back try converted by Stimpson put the home side in the driving seat.
Slemen narrowed the gap with another penalty 12 minutes before the break, and Quins might have narrowed the gap even further if the young fly half had made the most of two further kicks at goal in the last five minutes of the half.
Midway through the second period and the home side increased their lead against the run of play, but again Quins had chances to have scored, with Ben Gollings firing two drop goal attempts wide when well placed, before Leicester had added to their lead.
The visitors paid the price for slackness in defence, allowing Healey to punch a hole in the Quins defensive line and when Jamie Hamilton did the same thing to take the ball to the Quins five metre mark, Healey spun the ball out wide for Josh Kronfeld who fed Steve Booth for the decisive second score.
Late tries from Hamilton and Stimpson sealed the win and a bonus point for the Tigers, but for the second week running this was a closer game then it looked.
