NEC Harlequins are delighted to announce that their current title sponsor NEC will continue their association with the Club by sponsoring Quins community development programme over the next two years; a deal that was officially confirmed at the Club's End of Season Awards Dinner held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London last night (Tuesday 1st May).
Although the commercial partnership between the two parties will conclude at the end of the current season, NEC's significant financial contribution will help Quins to build on their successful community programme that was launched back in 2000.
The Quins Community Team run a number of different activities before, during and after all First XV matches held at the Twickenham Stoop throughout the season; these activities are run with support from the players and qualified coaches.
Indeed, at Quins final home game of the season last Saturday (28th April), just short of 3,000 tickets - almost a quarter of the total attendance - were sold through the community programme. 50 teams from 25 clubs from across the south of England competed in the Grand Finals of the season long Quins Curtain Raiser Cup; a tournament which is open to six age groups from Under 7's through to Under 12's.
Furthemore, pupils from Aldingbourne School, Sussex had the opportunity to develop their rugby skills by taking part in Quins Coaching Clinics, where they received expert advice from England Sevens player Charlie Amesbury.
"I'm absolutely thrilled that NEC have opted to extend their 11 year association with the Club in this way," said Mark Evans, NEC Harlequins Chief Executive. "They are making a significant contribution in the grassroots of the game, as well as to an area of the business which is vitally important to the Club moving forward."
"We've enjoyed a great relationship with Quins and we're delighted that will continue," said David Payette, NEC Managing Director. "We're very pleased to be able to work with a Club that are so committed to developing the game in their local area."
