England begin their penultimate leg of this seasons IRB Sevens series in the Emirates Airline London Sevens tournament at Twickenham this weekend (Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th May).
England, who sit in fifth place in the IRB Sevens table, face a tough pool in London where they face Wales, Portugal and South Africa in their group. England have won the Emirates Airline London Sevens twice (2003 and 2004) and are keen to reclaim the trophy in front of thousands of home fans.
NEC Harlequins players Danny Care, Tom Williams and Charlie Amesbury have all been selected for the forthcoming legs in London and Scotland.
On his selection, Williams said: "I am really happy to still be involved in the Sevens team. I see it as a good stepping stone for me to progress to further England honours."
"I have played at Twickenham a couple of times, including the Daily Mail tournament (for Wellington College) and Middlesex Sevens, so I am looking forward to playing at HQ again; I have lots of friends and family coming. I always love playing Sevens because I get the ball much more than in XVs and that in turns helps me improve and bring on my game."
Reflecting on the most recent IRB Sevens tournaments, Amesbury said: "I gave myself a week out from physical training after Hong Kong and Adelaide, as it was a tough two weeks. Then my aim was to push for a place in the Quins side by the end of the season. Unfortunately that didn't come off but I got physically ready for the London Sevens and I am pleased to be involved. In Sevens you can never be confident you are going to be selected because there is so much competition."
"I am really looking forward to playing at Twickenham again. I have played there in the Middlesex Sevens and I was there for the Heineken Cup Final on Sunday. It's an amazing stadium, especially now the South Stand is finished."
