Although Strettle was selected to start on the right wing in the first test against the Springboks, he was ultimately forced out of both fixtures with a stomach virus and had to fly home early. However, the 23 year-old winger impressed on his international debut during this years Six Nations Championship. Easter also impressed on his international debut during the Six Nations and further cemented his reputation during the summer tour of South Africa in winning two further caps.

Gomarsall also added two caps to his tally against the Springboks and made a return to the England team for the first time since his appearance against Australia at Twickenham in November 2004.
