Top flight rugby has well and truly returned to London, with Harlequins back in the Premiership and competing against the best teams, in the toughest domestic league Rugby Union has to offer.
After an encouraging first season back in the top flight, the Club have laid solid foundations on which to build and push towards the biggest prizes in the game. The extra demands for the Club off the field will compete with those the players will face on it.
The Club have therefore created a new position entitled Sponsorship and Marketing Executive, reporting directly to both the Sponsorship and Community Development Managers.
Sponsorship responsibilities to include:
- Day to day account management for official sponsors and suppliers
- To assist on a match day to ensure that contractual obligations are delivered, including sponsor branding, hospitality and leveraging activities
- Produce and distribute a monthly sponsorship ezine to include interesting stories relating to our sponsors activity, special offers and Club marketing ideas
- Liaising with other departments regarding player appearances, marketing and PR, website, hospitality and tickets
- To develop an annual plan for all sponsorship activity
- To generate new sponsorship activities and ideas
- To produce regular reports and end of season reviews for sponsors
Community Marketing responsibilities to include:
- Help identify new community groups as well as local businesses and encourage them to embrace the community programme
- Liaise with Associate Clubs and schools to facilitate their involvement in Community schemes
- To build and develop an effective database for the Community Team
- Devise a public relations plan to ensure publicity is maximised. This will include key areas such as the website, ezine, newsletter and matchday programme
- Design and produce marketing materials
- Liaise with Premier Rugby regarding central sponsorship programmes delivered through Community schemes
- Co-ordinate and expand the Mighty Quins membership and training days
- Liaise with playing department regarding player appearances
- Help the team reach income targets for the season
Personal specification:
- Enthusiastic and proactive
- Exceptional organisational skills
- Ability to multi-task and work to tight deadlines
- Computer literate with comprehensive use of MS Office, Photoshop and Outlook
- Client facing and commercially focused
- Ability to understand commercial contracts
- Willingness to work long and unsocial hours including match days
- Experience in the sports industry would be advantageous but not essential
