In preparation for the start of the 2007/08 Guinness Premiership season, Harlequins will play four warm-up matches in August and September as well as competing in the Middlesex Sevens at Twickenham.
The team will first come up against Manu Samoa on Friday 17th August, who last played at the Twickenham Stoop against Quins in November 2005. The tourists will use this match as part of their preparation before the start of the World Cup, whilst for Quins it will provide a challenging test ahead of the Premiership season. The following day (Saturday 18th August) sees Quins compete in the Middlesex Sevens at Twickenham Stadium.
On Saturday 25th August, Quins will travel to Franklins Gardens to face Northampton Saints, who still have a strong squad despite being relegated to National Division One. A week later (Saturday 1st September), Quins will take on Bristol at the Stoop in what will be an intriguing affair as the two clubs have been drawn in the same 2007/08 Heineken Cup pool.
The team then complete their pre-season schedule against Connacht at the Stoop on Friday 7th September. Quins played the Irish province in the group stages of last seasons European Challenge Cup and recorded two victories in both fixtures. This match should see the return of two ex-Quins, namely Gavin Duffy and Mel Deane who have both recently joined Connacht.
Two days later (Sunday 9th September) the annual Harlequins season ticket holders BBQ will be held at the Twickenham Stoop - full details on this will follow in due course.
