24 children took part in the NEC Training Day at the NEC Harlequins training ground in Roehampton yesterday (Tuesday 10th April).
The children, aged between six and 12 years-old, took part in training sessions run by Quins Academy players and England Under 21 internationals Alex Rogers and Chris Robshaw, before joining the whole of the first team squad for lunch.
14 of the children from Upminster had the opportunity to take part in the training day after their coaches won places by competing in the half-time NEC Skills Challenge that took place at Quins Guinness Premiership game against Newcastle Falcons on New Years Day. The remaining 10 children won places through an internal NEC competition.
The training day was run by the club on behalf of their main partner NEC. The children received expert coaching from Head Coach Andy Friend, as well as having the opportunity to meet all the players and get their autographs.
Harlequins fan Ed Atkin won the Etihad Airways 'Up and Under' competition at the Northampton Saints game. As a result, he and a friend have won a holiday to Abu Dhabi courtesy of Etihad Airways and the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority.
