The Twickenham Stoop, home of NEC Harlequins, is hosting an Army versus Barbarians fixture in celebration of the Army Rugby Union Centenary Season (1906 to 2006). This game will take place on Wednesday (4th April 2007), kick-off 7.45pm.
The Army Rugby Union came into being on 31st December 1906. Since its founding it has successfully fostered and developed the playing of rugby within the Army to such an extent that, a hundred years on, rugby is now considered to be one of the Army's premier sports.
The Army Rugby Union will celebrate its successes in this centenary season by arranging a variety of events including dinners, rugby festivals, tours and matches - the first being the game against the Barbarians at the Stoop.
Players from both teams are subject to confirmation but former Quins Coach and New Zealand international Zinzan Brooke is coaching the Barbarians XV set to include Gonzalez Cuizado, Clive Stuart-Smith, Steve Scott, former Irish internationals Kevin Maggs and Justin Fitzpatrick as well as former Australian lock Justin Harrison and World Cup winner Joe Roff.
The match will be played under the floodlights at the Stoop and tickets are available from just £5 for children and £10 for adults. Tickets can be purchased
online or by calling the clubs ticket office on
