NEC Harlequins are delighted to announce the signing of fly half Chris Malone on a two-year contract. The 29 year-old will join the club at the end of the current season from Bath Rugby. Malone, who has been at Bath for the past five years, has a wealth of experience playing in the Guinness Premiership and will be a valuable addition to the Quins squad for the 2007/08 season.
The former Australian Under 21 international has cemented his reputation as a reliable and valuable source of points for Bath in recent times and has been a key performer for his current club. He has amassed over 600 points and has started 18 matches to date this season.
"The opportunity to join Quins is one I'm very excited about as they've got a great coaching set-up and are clearly a club moving in the right direction," said Malone. "I'm really looking forward to being a part of the squad and I firmly believe they have one of the best back divisions in the Premiership."
"They've got a great mixture of experienced professionals and some really exciting young talent coming through, so I'm really looking forward to playing a part in the team next season."
"I am delighted to have secured such an experienced and skilled player in such a key position within the team," said Dean Richards, NEC Harlequins Director of Rugby. "Chris has done a great job at Bath in the time he's been there and we're looking forward to working with him."
"His territorial kicking is fantastic and he can also find space in attack and create try scoring opportunities. It's no coincidence that Bath have won the majority of the games in which Chris has started this season and he will greatly help us in looking to build on what we have achieved so far this season back in the Premiership."
