NEC Harlequins make two changes to the team that started against Northampton Saints last Saturday (17th February) for the game against Bristol in the Guinness Premiership at the Twickenham Stoop tomorrow (Saturday 24th February), kick-off 3.00pm.
Both changes are in the back division where Hal Luscombe comes into the midfield to partner Mel Deane, as injury rules out Stuart Abbott. With David Strettle called up to the England team to play Ireland tomorrow, Simon Keogh takes his place on the right wing. The pack is unchanged.
The replacements bench will be confirmed tomorrow and could feature Jordan Turner-Hall, depending on whether or not he features for the England Under 20s against Ireland tonight. Nicolas Spanghero is available for selection having missed out last weekend to be at the birth of his second child.
"Northampton have been struggling of late and were always going to be tough opponents last weekend in their desperate quest for points," said Dean Richards, NEC Harlequins Director of Rugby. "However, we held firm and eventually came out on top with a good all round display. It was our first win at Northampton for ten years and it was a key one with such a tough period ahead of us. We have all of the top five to play in the coming weeks and we are under no illusions about the task ahead."
"That said, we go into the period full of confidence and there's no reason why we can't make life very difficult for the title chasers and have a big say on the destination of the trophy, while finishing as high as we possibly can."
"However, Bristol are a quality side and it is difficult for them to get out of that winning habit at the moment. Their performance against Newcastle last weekend, coming back from being 9-21 down to win the game 22-21 with a last minute penalty try, proved how hard they are to beat right now."
