Harlequins have signed hooker Christophe Laurent on a six-week contract to relieve the problems the Club are experiencing in the front row position.
Tani Fuga was earlier this week called up by Samoa for the World Cup, while new signing Gary Botha is in the South African squad that is also competing in the tournament. Furthermore, summer signing Chris Brooker suffered a shoulder injury in the recent pre-season friendly against Northampton Saints (Saturday 25th August) that is set to keep him out of action for a number of weeks.
Laurent, who was part of the Bayonne squad last season, arrives in the country today and is likely to feature in the Quins squad for their game against Connacht at the Twickenham Stoop tomorrow (Friday 7th September), kick-off 6.00pm.
The 31 year-old represented France A earlier in his career in addition to being part of the Colomiers team that reached the final of the French Championship in 2000.
Harlequins fan Ed Atkin won the Etihad Airways 'Up and Under' competition at the Northampton Saints game. As a result, he and a friend have won a holiday to Abu Dhabi courtesy of Etihad Airways and the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority.
