Flown over by Harlequins Main Sponsor, Etihad Airways, and put up to stay in the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, Strettle spent some time doing promotional work for Quins new main sponsor. This included being guest of honour at Abu Dhabi's opening game of the new Arabian Gulf League season, a club who are also sponsored by Etihad Airways, as well as featuring in Abu Dhabi's version of OK! Magazine.
Commenting on his trip abroad David Strettle said: 'It was great to get away for a few days and do something different for a change. I've been to Dubai twice before and this was my second trip to Abu Dhabi so it was great to be back; it really is an amazing place to visit.'
'I obviously flew out with Etihad Airways which was very nice indeed. All the planes are brand new so the quality is another level so I can definitely recommend traveling with them. After doing a fair few interviews and public appearances I then had time to chill out on the beach and continue my rehabilitation in the gym of the Emirates Palace. It made a real difference to get a change of scenery and it was certainly a lot better swimming in the Emirates Palace pool than the one we go to in Roehampton!'
'I feel re-energised now and I'm making good progress on the injury front so fingers crossed I'll be back as soon as possible. Quins have made a fantastic start to the season - I watched the destruction of London Irish in the Double Header over the road and I managed to catch the Quins Vs Leeds game out in Abu Dhabi on Sky Sports and its been great to see the lads performing so well. Hopefully they'll be able to travel up to Newcastle this weekend and come back with a result before another big game the following weekend against Bristol in front of our home crowd at Twickenham Stoop.'
