Harlequins have signed hooker Diego Zarzosa from Spain on a six-week contract; the 31 year-old arrived in the country at the start of this week.
Aside from winning 37 caps for Spain, Zarzosa played for Cetransa El Salvador in the European Challenge Cup during both the 2003/04 and 2004/05 seasons. Indeed, he played against Quins when the two sides met in the tournament in December 2003.
Zarzosa has been signed, along with Christophe Laurent, to ease the problems the Club have experienced in the front row position.
Tani Fuga was last week called up by Samoa for the World Cup, while new signing Gary Botha is in the South African squad that is also competing in the tournament. Furthermore, summer signing Chris Brooker suffered a shoulder injury in the recent pre-season friendly against Northampton Saints (Saturday 25th August) that is set to keep him out of action for a number of weeks.
