Harlequins came out all guns blazing and a penalty from Malone after three minutes set the tone for the first half. It was shortly followed by the first try of two for Simon Keogh, who dived over in the corner following a pass that came from David Strettle making a break through the centre of Gloucester's defence. (8-0)
Three more tries from Ugo Monye, Malone and Keogh's second, looked set to put Quins in control going into the break with only Vainikolo's try and two penalites by Chris Paterson for Gloucester putting them within 12 points. (25 - 13)
Six minutes into the second half, Mike Tindall went over for Gloucester, and they continued to put the away side under immense pressure, which paid off. Quins conceded a number of penalites and ultimately had Andy Gomarsall and Ceri Jones both sent to the sin bin, leaving them with 13 men on the pitch.
Gloucester took advantage of the extra men and Vainikolo scored his second coming off the blind side wing, to pick up off the back of the ruck and touch down under the posts. Paterson slotted the following conversion, putting Gloucester 2 points ahead. (25 -27)
In the last twenty minutes Quins responded, putting some fresh blood on with three substitutions, but this proved futile and a turnover ball provided possession for Gloucester, who then just counted down the time till the final whistle.
Final Score: 25 -27
