Commenting on the day Harlequins Community Development Officer Ben Thurlow said: 'I thoroughly enjoyed Saturday's Etihad Airways Curtain Raiser Cup; the rugby was excellent and the manner in which it was played was fantastic. Saturday proved to all of us that fairplay, sportsmanship and competitiveness can go together and all the clubs involved should be rightfully proud of their coaches, officials and players. Our next qualifying day when we face Bristol in the Heineken Cup on Saturday 8th December will have to go some to beat the brilliant day we all had last weekend.'
Lewes Under 9's Coach, Simon Wood said: 'Thank you for everyone's hard work on Saturday. We had a lovely day as a group. We played against a couple of very good sides and it gave my team a better understanding of how we should be playing the game.'
<2R>'The day is not just about our matches though, it is a bonding day for kids and parents. We don't get many chances to spend the day together as a club and it's a really worthwhile exercise.'
Harlequins also hosted the Guy Salmon Land Rover Coaching Clinic in which Lewes RFC Under 12's participated. Quins players Tom Williams, John Brooks and Phil Davies lent their support to the event.
