Unlike previous years when Harlequins have held two Mighty Quins Training Days for half a day each, this season the Club decided to hold one longer Training Day running from 10.00am til 4.00pm, making the experience at The Twickenham Stoop bigger and better than ever before!
With Quins resident mascots Harley and Charley in attendance, the day began with a behind the scenes guided tour of the famous Twickenham Stoop stadium. Following this the 180 Mighty Quins members in attendance were split into different age groups and took part in passing, kicking, running and skills based coaching clinics throughout the morning training session on Craneford Way.
Lunch was provided by the Club in the Debenture Lounge before training re-commenced on the main pitch with the Quins squad who were able to join the Training Day following their own morning training session in preparation for the victory over London Irish the following Sunday. In dry conditions an hour of fun and games were enjoyed by both Mighty Quins and players alike on the hallowed turf before everybody reconvened indoors to watch a short Quins highlights DVD. Following this, Club Captain Paul Volley took the opportunity to thank all Mighty Quin members for their support, stating that it is very much appreciated and that their vocal support really motivates the team on the pitch. Quins wingers David Strettle and Ugo Monye then joined Paul Volley to host a question and answer session in which Mighty Quins took the opportunity to quiz their stars on a number of topics relating to Harlequins and being a professional rugby player.<2R>
At the end of the day, each Mighty Quin received a Harlequins goody bag featuring Etihad Airways caps, t-shirts and mini rugby balls, Taut and Highland Spring drinks as well as Harlequins fixture lists, flyers and squad posters. With this in their possession, Mighty Quin members had the chance to get the all important autographs and pictures from the entire Quins squad on all their various pieces of Quins memorabilia before parents picked their children up, with many then visiting the Quins Merchandise store.
