In the Under 13s tournament, the result was reversed with Kingsdale beating the Ernest Bevin side in the final to emerge victorious. The rivalry continued as the two teams also dominated the Under 14s competition, but this time hosts Ernest Bevin beat Kingsdale.
In the oldest age group, the Under 17s tournament, Haberdashers Askes Knights Academy beat runners up Shirley High School. Ernest Bevin was pleased to be able to field a side in the Under 17 tournament for the first time since the rugby programme was established at the school three years ago with the support of Harlequins FC.
Two Harlequins Academy players Joe Trayfoot and Ollie Lindsay-Hague turned up to support the youngest players and inspire them from the sidelines on Friday afternoon.
Mike Chivers, co-Principal at Ernest Bevin College, said: "The Ernest Bevin College 7s tournament is a great chance for our young players to have a go at this quicker paced version of rugby. We are grateful to Harlequins FC for their continued support and development of young rugby talent both at our school and in the local area."
Tom Williams, Player Development Officer at Harlequins FC, said: "It was great to see so many talented young players competing in the Ernest Bevin Sevens this season. For some boys this is the first step to becoming excellent rugby players, I am looking forward to seeing how these players develop over the next few years."
